Great conversation can make all the difference in any successful dinner party. I like to use seating cards to ever so carefully craft the perfect seating arrangement to ensure intriguing story telling, witty conversation, and boisterous laughter… all integral ingredients for the perfect night… But sometimes, you need a little help to get the flow going…. Party Game time!
It’s October… so of course, I had to put together a little game suitable for Halloween revelry… And no, not a cheesy, adolescent game…. more of a fun conversation starter! I find playing games can really help to break the ice when your guests don’t know each other well.
So, I was putting together my Toe Tag Halloween Place Settings, and as I created each of the toe tags I realized what a fun game I could turn them into. The perfect party game and conversation starter for your Halloween Dinner Party! A macabre yet entertaining guessing game! Test your guests’ knowledge of the dearly departed!
How to prepare for the game:
Create a Toe Tag for each guest’s place setting. Check out the Toe Tag Place Setting and Halloween Tablescape for free toe tag printables, and full instructions on making them. In all fields on the Toe Tag, except Name, fill out the factual information of a celebrity who has died. In the Name of Deceased field, fill in your guest’s name.
At dinner, let your guests figure out who they are. Since there isn’t a lot of information on a toe tag, it’s important to choose celebrities with memorable facts surrounding their death…. whether the Cause of Death is a clue, or simply the Date & Place of Death are clues. You may also want to consider your audience. Do you have a table full of history buffs, or rock band groupies? Pick your toe tags accordingly. You want your guests to figure out the answers, so don’t make them too impossible to figure out… but just tough enough to spark some conversation!
As the host, you may want to save up a few interesting facts about each of the celebrities to throw in there as your guests finally figure out who they are…. doesn’t hurt to keep those conversations flowing! Oh… and pour a glass or three of this Embalming Fluid Punch…. nothing like a dip in inhibitions to keep the party going!
